The Admiral Advantage

What is the Admiral Advantage?

For over 40 years, Admiral has valued trust, honesty, and ethical behavior. We are passionate about supporting both our customers and our employees by delivering on our promises. We do so by:

  • Admiral utilizes a comprehensive multi-tiered application and interview process exceeding many jurisdictional requirements and assisting us in vetting quality security personnel for our clients.
  • Utilizing active and consistent communications and inspection processes that also assists us in our efforts to provide exceptional service to every client.
  • Providing a hands-on approach, proactive problem solving, quick turn-around and senior level management involvement.
  • Having our operational and senior management actively involved in professional trade associations. Our team regularly participates in development programs within the industry as both instructors and students.
  • Balancing both a strong security mindset with outstanding customer service skills. We reinforce this with high quality training and development programs designed by professional educators.

The Admiral Advantage doesn’t stop there.  In addition to implementing and managing a world class security program at your location, we offer a significant menu of no cost, low cost value added options.  Please see the “Services” section for more information on how we provide our clients with a “total security solution.”

The Admiral approach is based on eleven key elements that differentiate us from the rest of the industry. Each element serves as a pillar in building a long-term partnership with our clients:

Stability: Admiral Security Services is an established company known for providing uncompromising service by earning the loyalty of our employees and our customers in a variety of specialty markets:

  • Class A Commercial Real Estate
  • Government
  • Utilities/ Infrastructure
  • Corporate Complexes
  • Manufacturing and Distribution Centers
  • Educational and Healthcare Facilities

Resources: Admiral is a family managed company with solid finances. Our sister company, Red Coats, Inc. has extensive resources. Red Coats has invested and continues to invest in Admiral’s operations in our never ending quest to become the standard of quality and service in the industry.

Freedom: We are privately owned with flexibility to make decisions that are based on taking care of our employees and our customers as opposed to short-term profitability. We are not constrained by the pressures of external investors. Our investors are the Peel family who established the company over 50 years ago. We are a “right-sized” company, and we manage Admiral as a company that can address the needs of our clients and people in ways that no “big company” can. We are nimble and empowered to make decisions on the spot in the interests of the customer and employee.

Proven Management Team: Our team includes a well-known and well-respected cadre of senior managers with a substantial amount of collective experience in building close partnerships with our customers and employees. This expertise ensures personalized and customized services specifically developed for the market. We are also active leaders in ASIS (American Society for Industrial Security); BOMA (Building Owners and Managers Association), IFMA (International Facility Management Association), AOBA (Apartment and Office Building Association) and other professional associations and private public partnerships to ensure we are contributing to the industries of our customers and listening to their current and emerging needs.

Training: Admiral’s philosophy in developing the skills of our security personnel is centered on learning not training. Training is a mechanical activity that fails to assess the results associated with it; learning is a dynamic process where information and skills are delivered to our employees in a manner that maximizes the retention and application of this information and skills to real, on-the-job situations. Anyone can attend training, but how much the student has learned and can apply without error is the benefit associated with a learning-centered organization. As a learning organization, Admiral strives for value-added performance at every service interaction and at every level of our organization.

  • We have an extensive internal catalog of professional developmental courses for all levels of employees. Additionally, our training department identifies external training opportunities with Homeland Security and law enforcement to enhance professional development.
  • Our superior training programs and investment in our people is a cornerstone of the exemplary services we provide to our clients.

Integrity: We subscribe to the proven values of trust, honesty and ethical behavior. We are passionate about looking our customers and employees in the eyes and delivering exactly what we promise. This level of integrity drives us to establish, audit and enforce very high standards for our people and our management team. We strive to exceed expectations.

Our People: Sadly, the quality, image and demeanor of security officers in many security companies has significantly deteriorated. Their employee “selection” has been replaced by hiring anyone who is able to complete an application and pass a background check. At Admiral, people are our product. How we select and treat them directly and significantly impacts the services we provide.

Our Benefits: We offer competitive pay, a comprehensive benefits plan, and a “Dressed for Performance” uniform plan that provides a generous issue of high quality and professional uniform garments at no cost to the officers. Image is critical in the security industry and is very important in setting the tone. We provide a look and image that is unmatched.

Employee First Culture: Admiral genuinely cares for its people. Our values permeate everything we do and govern how we interact with our team. We are a special company for which to work. Our on-site support visits at all hours of the day and night. Managers are empowered to recognize their officers for good work. We believe that if we take care of our officers, the officers will take care of our clients, and our clients will reward us with their loyalty.

Cost-Efficient Business Model: Despite our commitment to excellence and service quality, we understand the financial realities in managing a business and security program. We present an attractive billing structure based on our ability to keep our overhead costs lower than our competitors. By maintaining a high officer retention rate and investing in comprehensive training, we dramatically reduce the costs associated with turnover, unemployment and liability/risk – thus allowing us to be price competitive without sacrificing the quality of our program.

Industries We Serve

Admiral Security has a diverse client base that spans all industries.  From larger headquarters of famous worldwide organizations to small residential complexes, time and again, we have proven ourselves as a scalable, flexible organization that provides superior service to all of our clients.

Given the large number of clients we have in certain sectors, we have also created a number industry specific programs.  These include:

    • Admiral Security has long recognized that customer service is a key function of any security officer’s job, and it is particularly important in commercial real estate, where that individual may be the first face a current or prospective client sees when they enter your building!  When providing directions, enforcing rules, or responding to emergencies, how an officer interacts with can greatly determine whether the outcome is positive or negative. Admiral has long been lauded for the excellent service our officers provide and we believe that this is a direct result of a combination of a strong selection process and outstanding training.

Many companies try to express the value of their training in terms of quantity, but Admiral believes the quality of training is equally, if not more, important.  Customer Service Skills are a key topic of our training courses, and we believe that we have one of the best programs currently in the industry today. A sampling of our commercial real estate training includes:

The Admiral Customer Excellence® Program (ACE): This program uses elements from world renowned customer service training.  The course gives Admiral employees an excellent opportunity to sharpen and focus their interpersonal skills and develop from an employee who meets the customers’ expectations to one that exceeds them. Topics include:

      • Resolving Customer Concerns
      • Soliciting Customer Feedback
      • Dealing with Difficult People and Situations
      • Taking Additional Steps

LEED© Training Classroom Presentation:  At Admiral, we pride ourselves on being a true business partner for our clients. We recognize that the challenges in property management are constantly changing, and our goal is to be at the forefront of that evolution. That is why we are proud to be one of the first and only security providers to roll out a training program for our employees dedicated to understanding the LEED™ certification process. “Working in a LEED™ Certified Building: An Introduction for Security Officers” is a short, introductory training covering the following topics:

      • What is LEED™ Certification?
      • The Benefits of LEED™
      • Energy Awareness Programs
      • Tips for Energy Conservation

Roll Call Training :  Training is not a one-time event; rather it is an on-going process where positive behaviors are reinforced, inadequate performance is corrected and new information is constantly shared. It is a necessary process in any successful security program.  However, with the varying schedules of the security force, finding the time and resources to conduct on-going training can be a challenge. To that end, Admiral has developed an exclusive “Roll Call Training Program. Created to be completed in a few minutes over the course of several days, Roll Call Training consists of several separate modules, designed to be utilized topic by topic on a bi- weekly basis. Subjects range from maintenance issues to emergency response and are customized based on each individual building’s policies and procedures. Each section also includes several learning point questions and a short final quiz.

We believe that because of our Commercial Real Estate approach, we can proudly display real, measurable results that our efforts are working!  Admiral employees consistently receive top honors from industry associations and local business groups. This is significant, because many of the selection panels for these awards are comprised of several members from various security companies – meaning our competitors also agree that our officers are worthy of recognition!

    • Assets that are essential for the functioning of a society and economy demand a higher level of security protection.  Using the framework outlined by the US Critical Infrastructure Protection Program of 1998 (and its subsequent revisions) as a basis, Admiral has created a Critical Infrastructure Division for our clients with business in the areas of:

      • Banking and Finance
      • Transportation
      • Power
      • Information and Communications
      • Federal and Municipal Services
      • Emergency Services
      • Public Works
      • Agriculture and Food
      • National Monuments and Icon

These clients typically have special needs regarding regulations, safety, contingency planning, and training and exercising for emergency operations. Admiral Security is aware of these requirements and prepared to work with our clients to ensure that our officers not only meet, but in many cases exceed, these requirements.

Regulations:  Many facilities in the Critical Infrastructure Division are subject to various governmental or jurisdictional regulations regarding how information is handled, how access is granted, how incidents are reported and any number of other special needs.  Admiral takes pride in ensuring our employees participate in education and professional development programs to learn as much as possible about these ever changing regulations. We strive to be a true resource for our clients – a security solution – not just a security “vendor.”

Safety:  At all of our CID locations, safety is a key component of a well-rounded program.  Safety concerns are tracked and root-cause analysis is conducted anytime an incident occurs to prevent such situations from becoming future vulnerabilities and potentially putting the security of the facility at risk.

Contingency Planning:  Admiral Security has an extensive contingency plan should disasters occur.  All of our Operations Team Members are equipped with smart phones and laptops utilizing the most current VPN software to ensure that critical work may be completed from any remote location.  All of Admiral’s systems, such as scheduling and payroll, may also be utilized from off-site locations, and our technology department has all critical infrastructure backed up at alternate locations that can be easily accessed if necessary.

Admiral maintains a 24 hour, 7 days per week UL Listed Central Communications Center at our headquarters equipped with redundant infrastructure.  It incorporates self-contained air conditioning and environmental control systems, an uninterruptible power supply and two hybrid emergency generators capable of running on multiple fuel sources.  These systems ensure continuous power and environmental conditioning for all necessary equipment in the event of short-term or prolonged power outages. In case of a serious emergency, operations can be switched to our secondary Central Station.

Training and Exercise Planning:  In addition to our in house training programs, our team includes a FEMA/DHS Master Exercise Practitioner (MEP) who completed the program as one of the only private industry attendees. We believe this focus on our front line employees is key, because when an emergency happens, seconds count.  A well trained team can react quickly and confidently, ensuring that plans are enacted when practical and feasible, and good judgement can be exercised when the plan just won’t work. The goal of Admiral’s CID Exercise Program is to drill and train for any and all possible scenarios related to fire, emergency response, and terrorism so that our employees are always prepared to act.

American Owned / Privately Held

Admiral Security is proud of our status as a family owned, American company.  Based in our nation’s capital, we truly understand the importance of homeland security.  Unlike many of our competitors, we are not beholden to foreign ownership. We continuously strive to be the embodiment of core American values, like independence, individuality and equality.

As a privately held company, we are independent of the investment groups that are focused only on increased revenues, while decreasing overhead and disregarding the need to ensure enough internal resources to meet customers’ needs. We know that our success comes from satisfied customers and developing long term partnerships, and that will always be our focus.
